Gaming Boards

Hi!

in the past weeks I tried to put together some terrain elements and some different gaming boards, mostly focusing on 15mm stuff.
My main goal was to create some nice looking enviroments using only leftover materials.
This is the board I made out of some foamcore and polystyrene, adding wall plaster, sand and few rocks:

The board is made from A3 foamcore sheets. I finished 2 out of 4 planned; in the next pics you can see the new ones together with the finalized/painted ones

And here you can see the final effect with some 15mm minis, all from Ground Zero Games:

Hills can host some important game objectives...

Even if at the moment I only have 2xA3 they still have proven themselves enough for few nice 15mm games :)

At the moment I'm thinking about creating other boards with different materials... stay tuned!

Halloween is coming!

Hi,

as per title... Halloween is very close and we all feel the need to add something odd and strange to our homes! I know during this time there are usually lot of games and BatReps with scary themes... and I too chose mine for an incoming game: giant rats!
Big and nasty rats are classic fantasy/rpg monsters, and it is very easy to catch a bag of 10 toys rats and transform them in 28mm wargame models ready for a quick skirmish with your game buddies:

Bases are made of plasticard; I just sprayed black the lurking creatures...

 ... and finished themoff with some drybrush painting. Red eyes and gore might be a bit bad taste but... ehi, they're a must during Halloween!

 To exterminate the ugly monsters, I took some old GW models and painted them very roughly  with a dirty color scheme... These unlucky guys take care about giant rats, so you can imagine they might be not the most appreciated and famous between the SM!

I'm not sure about the rules we'll use. Both Space Hulk (the great 1st edition) and Chain Reaction from THW might be a good choice.

Toys of War

Hi,

after being at Nuremberg Toy Fair I came up with more ideas of making re-use of toys for wargaming.
In particular I decided to give a very quick and rough metal brushing to a couple of T-1 I had and use them as HUGE warmachines for my 15mm figures.

From these two I started thinking to a game in which an attacking force will have to sabotage a well defended military outpost... so I added some minis I already had ready and painted a very nice Comm vehicle from GZG I ordered an year ago.
Below is the current Defenders faction:

the two Titan Mechas: they lack of fine details, still love how they stand tall close to 15mm figures and vehicles!

 

They are HUGE!!!!

Below is the nice GZG Communication vehicle next to my mostly beloved ARC Fleet from CMG:

And below is the Defender Faction at full streight:

Some more 15mm madness

Hi all,

these are few new things ready for next 15mm games (still wondering which fxxxx rules to use)...

Firts is a gun turret from Critical mass games, on a Mechwarior prepainted figure's base - with a crate from GZG to add some detail.

Second is a repaint of an unknown prepainted mini from Wizkids... the idea is to use it as an "Incredible Hulk" style creature!

Least but not last... this mini is a 1/72 item from -maybe- Zvezda and is part of the only 1/72 set of Sci-Fi infantry I'm aware of (not that attractive).
I used it with some 1/72 converted minis, but as I don't use them anymore, I turned it 15mm adding a green stuff cover to hide the figure inside.
In my opinion, it is quite a passable Sahadeen recon walker!!

Toys, 2HW and Mad Max

Hi,

might be because they're my job, but I love toys and think they are always a great resource for modelling and wargaming: they often offer very cheap still passable solutions for a geek everyday's needs.

I have been thinking for a long time about a 28mm post-apocalyptic skirmish (Fallout style) but did not know what to use for it, until..

1) I found Javier's Fallout campaing system for CR2 on 2HWyahoo group -fxxxxxing incredible.
2) got NUTS from Ed -fxxxxxing amazing.
3) buyed 5150 Star Army -fxxxxxing awesome.

Mixing the 3 things (campaign, loot/special rules from Javier GREAT work, scifi weapon armors from 5150, clunky gear and focus of a party of guys against all the world from NUTS) I'm sure it will come out a great game!

Now, back to the minis, I ordered for different pourposes a bag of 80 Warzone plastic minis from Prince August (I'm waiting for them to come). they look great in my opinion and are a perfect base for tons of conversions; then I took some cheap toys to create some further stuff...

This very ignorant brute for instance...

Ruined Water Purification Implant

Dear all,

This week end I had some time and I finished my "ruined water purification implant" to be implemented in my ruined city project for 15mm minis!
This would be part of the terrain used for my incoming 5150: Star Army games as I buyed this game today from THW! Talking about the game, will hopefully soon review it.

Questa settimana ho finalmente trovato il tempo di finire il mio "Impianto di depurazione dell'acqua in rovina", da implementare nel mio progetto di città in rovina per le miniature in 15mm!
Questo pezzo di scenario verrà usato per i prossimi giochi con le regole di 5150: Star Army, dato che ho appena comprato da THW questo set di regole!
A proposito di questo regolamento, spero di riuscire presto a scriverne una recensione.

This is the full Water Implant. At the moment it is supposed to be a Sahadeen Rebels stronghold!

Scratch made support for a FUBAR battle!

Hi!

I'm currently planning a couple of games: the first is a skirmish "adventure" using 2HW rules (Chain Reaction or Nuts) and the other one is a big battle runned by FUBAR.
For this second game I'm putting together some nasty things...
I think to Rebel Minis Sahadeens as wasteland nomad rebels fighting a war againts a well organized force, so I created from scratches this HUGE Tank/APC as a fearsome and rusty transport/attack vehicle.

Sto pianificando un paio di giochi: una schermaglia con le regole di 2HW (Chain Reaction o Nuts) ed una grande battaglia usando invece FUBAR . Per questo secondo gioco sto mettendo insieme alcune cosette...
Immagino i Sahadeens di Rebel Minis come nomadi o ribelli che combattano una guerra contro una forza ben organizzata, quindi ho realizzato questo enorme ed arrugginito carro armato/trasporto corazzato con quello che avevo in giro.

I'd like to create for them some garbage made vehicles... and robots! These are old minis from Epic 40k:

Support fire

Hello,

after seeing a video preview of the next Ghost Recon, I put together this little robot to support my fireteams.
It is a very old toy tank from micromachines with components taken from a mechwarrior:dark age tank. The parts I took from the MW:DA model are supposed to be gatling guns but I will try to paint them to resemble four "robotic eyes"!
The big gun is from the nice game "Star Quest" -I'm still a big fan of his brother "Hero Quest!"-
