Five Parsecs from being back!

Hi all!

It's been a long time since I last wrote something on NNL, and I'm so sorry about that. I unfortunately (or luckily) have had lots of things to do... i.e. I now live with my patient girlfriend!

Still, I have TONS of newly painted minis and in these months I tried some very cool rules: I played with my mates terrific Ganesha Games battles (love these rules!), and I found my new paragon in wargaming rulesets: the Fivecore System from Nordic Weasel Games!

Really, this is something I did not expect: with this ruleset and its expansion Five Parsecs From Home I felt something I was missing in miniature gaming since a long time: the feeling of an adventure, story-driven game!

I never played but was a great fan of GW's original Rogue Trader because it was so full of imagination and was all about adventures and quests instead of  revolving "only" around battles... each game had a story, players and NPCs had interesting interactions and backgrounds... and this is exactly what I love of Five Parsecs: Ivan Sorensen brought back this feeling forgotten for a long time in my games!

By now I tryed the game only once with my friend Yuri (he's the one who told me about this great system!) but it was enough to confirm my first impression. I hope to be able to post soon a batrep.

BTW: I will try in the next weeks to post pictures of all the new minis I've done in these last months and be aware... I also discovered the world of 15mm fantasy, so expect to see something soon! :D

Since my last post was about ARC Fleet light recon color schemes (still my favourite sci-fi soldiers out there) I leave you with a couple of pictures of the painting I decided for some of them:

- my SWAT teams will now have a new "blue" look as I did not like anymore my former paintjob, below you see the comparison between new (left) and old (right):

- some special operations squads will now have a new camo I quite like:

All in all, I greet you with a peek to my small 15mm playground so you know I was not jocking when I said I worked on some gaming stuff in the last months ^_^'... I will post more about all my new terrain stuff in the next weeks!

Take care!
cheers
Andrea

No Nerd's Land presents: SECRET WARS

Hi all,

very busy month at work, still I'm about finishing up NNL free game system, which now has a name: SECRET WARS! It might be not the most original name out there, still it makes sense with the dungeon crawling and cyberpunk feeling of the game... and I quite like it!

while I complete some stat cards and try understand how to put the pdf rules and game aids on my blog (really, if someone has any idea about it... O_o), I'm glad to post here a playtest in which you can start have an idea what will be the game!

Any feedback or comment is welcome,
Cheers,
Andrea

Toys of War

Hi,

after being at Nuremberg Toy Fair I came up with more ideas of making re-use of toys for wargaming.
In particular I decided to give a very quick and rough metal brushing to a couple of T-1 I had and use them as HUGE warmachines for my 15mm figures.

From these two I started thinking to a game in which an attacking force will have to sabotage a well defended military outpost... so I added some minis I already had ready and painted a very nice Comm vehicle from GZG I ordered an year ago.
Below is the current Defenders faction:

the two Titan Mechas: they lack of fine details, still love how they stand tall close to 15mm figures and vehicles!

They are HUGE!!!!

Below is the nice GZG Communication vehicle next to my mostly beloved ARC Fleet from CMG:

And below is the Defender Faction at full streight:
-2x Titan Mechas
-Light Recons Veteran Squad
-Anti-tank gun
-Anti-personnel gun
-Comm Vehicle
-APC with Power Armor assault squad

Cheers,
Andrea

FUBAR battle: new Power Armor support squad!

Hallo and Happy Easter everyone!

I'm (slowly) keeping on arranging things for the 15mm FUBAR battle I'd like to play with my friends.
This time I painted the last miniatures I had from CMG (and already look forward to have more of their ARC Fleet light recons as they perfectly resemble my ideal sci-fi soldier!)For this new six men power armored squad I tried a simple green color scheme which in my opinion has a good contrast with the metal details... here' the Leader:

Sto lentamente preparando il materiale per la battaglia in 15mm con le regole di FUBAR che vorrei giocare presto. Questa volta ho dipinto le ultime miniature che avevo di CMG (e non vedo l'ora di avere altri loro ARC Fleet light recon perchè sono il mio ideale di soldato fantascientifico!)
Per questa squadra in armatura potenziata ho provato ad usare uno schema di colore semplice, ma che mi pare abbia un buon contrasto con i dettagli in metallo... ecco il Leader

...and the whole squad:
... e la squadra al completo:

As I had a last Light Recon Sniper, I painted it kind of the same (with no metal). Maybe my next recons will be like that?
Avevo un'ultimo Light Recon, così ho provato lo stesso schema di colore (senza metallo). Forse farò così i miei prossimi light recons!

But "regular" and "insurgents" (see my former post) will not be the only ones to have some heavy support... BIG bugs have been spotted on the planet! :))
Ma le truppe "regolari" ed i "ribelli" (post precedente) non saranno gli unici a godere di supporti pesanti... il pianeta sarà anche infestato da GROSSI insettoni!

Keep on lovin' fantasy and games,
Cheers,
Andrea

Urban Shock troopers

Hi all,

Here comes my first six Augmented Troopers from CMG , in urban camo!
With heavy assault rifles, a couple of shoulder mounted grenade launchers and the ability to face heavy enemy firepower, they are supposed to help my urban Light Recons when in trouble on the battlefield.
The models themselves are great as all the ones coming from the above Company (and I have six left to paint!)

The first one, made to have a preview color scheme.
