Gaming Boards

Hi!

in the past weeks I tried to put together some terrain elements and some different gaming boards, mostly focusing on 15mm stuff.
My main goal was to create some nice looking enviroments using only leftover materials.
This is the board I made out of some foamcore and polystyrene, adding wall plaster, sand and few rocks:

The board is made from A3 foamcore sheets. I finished 2 out of 4 planned; in the next pics you can see the new ones together with the finalized/painted ones

And here you can see the final effect with some 15mm minis, all from Ground Zero Games:

Hills can host some important game objectives...

Even if at the moment I only have 2xA3 they still have proven themselves enough for few nice 15mm games :)

At the moment I'm thinking about creating other boards with different materials... stay tuned!

Cheers

Five Parsecs from being back!

Hi all!

It's been a long time since I last wrote something on NNL, and I'm so sorry about that. I unfortunately (or luckily) have had lots of things to do... i.e. I now live with my patient girlfriend!

Still, I have TONS of newly painted minis and in these months I tried some very cool rules: I played with my mates terrific Ganesha Games battles (love these rules!), and I found my new paragon in wargaming rulesets: the Fivecore System from Nordic Weasel Games!

Really, this is something I did not expect: with this ruleset and its expansion Five Parsecs From Home I felt something I was missing in miniature gaming since a long time: the feeling of an adventure, story-driven game!

I never played but was a great fan of GW's original Rogue Trader because it was so full of imagination and was all about adventures and quests instead of  revolving "only" around battles... each game had a story, players and NPCs had interesting interactions and backgrounds... and this is exactly what I love of Five Parsecs: Ivan Sorensen brought back this feeling forgotten for a long time in my games!

By now I tryed the game only once with my friend Yuri (he's the one who told me about this great system!) but it was enough to confirm my first impression. I hope to be able to post soon a batrep.

BTW: I will try in the next weeks to post pictures of all the new minis I've done in these last months and be aware... I also discovered the world of 15mm fantasy, so expect to see something soon! :D

Since my last post was about ARC Fleet light recon color schemes (still my favourite sci-fi soldiers out there) I leave you with a couple of pictures of the painting I decided for some of them:

- my SWAT teams will now have a new "blue" look as I did not like anymore my former paintjob, below you see the comparison between new (left) and old (right):

- some special operations squads will now have a new camo I quite like:

All in all, I greet you with a peek to my small 15mm playground so you know I was not jocking when I said I worked on some gaming stuff in the last months ^_^'... I will post more about all my new terrain stuff in the next weeks!

Take care!
cheers

ARC Fleet Light Recon color schemes

Hi all,

I recently ordered some great stuff with Yuri from GZG but, when we met to split the order (and have a beer), we decided also to trade some of the minis we already had.

So I now have... 15-16 more ARC Fleet Light Recon from Critical Mass Games!
Just by surfing on this blog you might understand how much I love these minis, in my opinion they are so well proportioned and their uniform is just perfectly fitting my taste.
They remember me a bit Halo's ODST and that is pretty good too!

So, since I will have to paint some more of them (and I'm thinking to order a dozen more and make an army) I made some reference tables to study new color schemes for them, please enjoy :)

Let me know if you like/will use any of them for your minis!

Cheers

Not dead yet - and BatRep

Hi,

long time has gone since I wrote my last post because of real life calling... and Skyrim.
It always has a role in procrastination.
BUT... I'm still here and in these months I had some good gaming with my mates Affro, Mr BBocci (if you don't know his masterpieces, you should go to: http://www.artflakes.com/en/shop/matteo-bocci) and Yuri, so my patient girfriend will not hear me telling her about game rules for a while.
Maybe.
Btw: we fought a great scenario prepared by Yuri with the rules of THW CR3 using 15mm minis. The backgound and rules were GREAT, but we had very unlucky dies in our hands and in the end there were not much action.
The plot was about finding/neutralizing gunrunners with a stealth approach and then kick the buyer's a$$ as soon as they appeared... quite fun!
The scenario was full of Yuri's greatly painted 15mm civilians and since we are a bunch of good guys the engaging rules were focused on civilians preservation.

Here are some pics:

Our layout :). Next to us some friends were playing some boardgames.

First building, first room to clear. Paper maps are Yuri's and they may be from Cyberpunk -but not sure, I have to ask him again-.

ME:
"Where are the bad guys? Tell me!"
- roll d6
"I don't know"
"Oh."
- Guys, can I shoot him?
- No. Rules of Engagement. We are supposed to be the good guys.
- Damn.

Mr BBocci:
"Where? Tell me!"
- roll d6
"I don't know"
"Umf."
- Guys, can I shoot these two?
- No. Rules of Engagement. We are supposed to be the good guys.
- Damn.

Affro's team explores the tabletop trying to reveal a PEF

Affro's team gets miserably lost in the swamp

Some people look to Affro's team and think no one will go back home

Affro's team approaches the last shack.
No one from his team came back home (5 Sahadeens inside with a LMG).

However, in the next batrep I'll post you'll see Affro taking his revenge... against me.

Cheers

SECRET WARS of Zombieland!

Hi!

further some encouraging feedback I had to my "Sci-Fi dungeon Crawling" free-game SECRET WARS, I'm putting together a small yet hopefully fun expansion: let me introduce you GENCOM: Genetic Commerce.

In the world of SECRET WARS, where the Earth we know is broken and sick, Governments are just representative and what rules the world is the brutal Corporation, big and small conflicts turn up daily... a tragedy for someone but -as it always is- a lucrative business for someone else.

GENCOM is a new but powerful Company. Born as a medical research institute focused on bio-implants and genetic manipulation, it has quickly become a player in the black market of Bio-Weapons and it is rumored to have connections with some of the Nations which claims independence and aim to undermine the Corporation's hegemony.

And here comes your oppurtunity as a Corporative Cell Commander: the Intellighentias have nothing against infected Zombies, snarling Bio-Hulks or small conflicts which sustain the world's bloody Economy... but GENCOM business is slowly becoming more and more troublesome and time consuming to handle in an official way and the Corporation is not going to tolerate it anymore.
So the matter will be not treated on a meeting table nor in an open conflict, but with the quick and surgical action of a chosen group of Agents.

So stay tuned for the update and let me know if you like the game or not: any comment or review will  be much appreciated and blessed by the Gods of Heavy Metal and Miniatures enthusiasts!

AGENTS

Hi,

after a nice SECRET WARS tryout with Affro, I took some of my Rebel Minis in order to convert them to be Agents with a design closer to my SW sketch below:

From Left to Right, SW Agents come in 4 categories: Tactical , Medic, Support and Engineer.

I made  with some putty the long coats and converted one of the "Post Apocaliptic Survivalist" adding a heavy weapon. It is quick and fun to make this kind of very simple conversions in 15mm, you really don't have to care much about small details since  it will be mostly the overall look what will count on the table.

At the end, this is the complete selection of Agents... I know the picture is not that good, I'll try to post a new one.
While I'm  quite satisfyied about the Tactical and the Support Agent, and think Medic is ok, the Engineer is to be improved or substituted, since I added no conversions and do not give the character feeling.

If you have any suggestion, let me know!

SECRET WARS: ready to download!

HI!

Finally… It’s here!

Please find below the link to download SECRET WARS!

As anticipated, SECRET WARS is a 15mm miniature board game played on tiles.
The game itself is easy and quick and allows to play with two or three friends; it is designed to let players create their own missions and use miniatures from their collection/adapt Stat Cards to their favourite models.

In no way it is intended as an alternative to all the GREAT 15mm wargame system out there (btw, this is a boardgame ;) ), it is just my small “thanks” to my blog Followers and the 15mm community!

In the .rar you’ll find all it is needed to play a first game and create your own missions:

-SECRET WARS – rules: 12 pages in which you’ll find all the rules.

-Stat cards - Agents and Mercs: Cell players will use these cards to recruit their forces

-1st Mission Opponent Player's Map: The Opponent’s player map to Master the game

- Stat Cards - Opponent Forces - vehicles 1st mission: Opponent’s player grunts and vehicles

-1st mission 4xA4 boards : 1st mission playground to print and play on

-Game Tokens: doors, terminals etc…

-Gear Cards: Equipment and Weapons

-Hazard cards: when a SEARCH action fails…

-Loot Cards: when a SEARCH action has success!

Looking forward to know opinions from the experts: you!

A big thanks goes to Dani (always sooo patient) and to Affro who tried the game yesterday evening and saw his Cell exterminated after few rooms because of his kamikaze tactics!

Cheers,
Andrea

Still not but closer!

Ok, I'm damn late... still it will not take much time now: I just have to put together some stuff in a decent manner and find out how to make the files available for downloading on Blogger!

I'm not that much of an artist, still I'm glad and quite proud to post the cover I drawn for my small game (I still might make a couple of changes):

Hi all,
