Not dead yet - and BatRep

Hi,

long time has gone since I wrote my last post because of real life calling... and Skyrim.
It always has a role in procrastination.
BUT... I'm still here and in these months I had some good gaming with my mates Affro, Mr BBocci (if you don't know his masterpieces, you should go to: http://www.artflakes.com/en/shop/matteo-bocci) and Yuri, so my patient girfriend will not hear me telling her about game rules for a while.
Maybe.
Btw: we fought a great scenario prepared by Yuri with the rules of THW CR3 using 15mm minis. The backgound and rules were GREAT, but we had very unlucky dies in our hands and in the end there were not much action.
The plot was about finding/neutralizing gunrunners with a stealth approach and then kick the buyer's a$$ as soon as they appeared... quite fun!
The scenario was full of Yuri's greatly painted 15mm civilians and since we are a bunch of good guys the engaging rules were focused on civilians preservation.

Here are some pics:

Our layout :). Next to us some friends were playing some boardgames.

First building, first room to clear. Paper maps are Yuri's and they may be from Cyberpunk -but not sure, I have to ask him again-.

ME:
"Where are the bad guys? Tell me!"
- roll d6
"I don't know"
"Oh."
- Guys, can I shoot him?
- No. Rules of Engagement. We are supposed to be the good guys.
- Damn.

Mr BBocci:
"Where? Tell me!"
- roll d6
"I don't know"
"Umf."
- Guys, can I shoot these two?
- No. Rules of Engagement. We are supposed to be the good guys.
- Damn.

Affro's team explores the tabletop trying to reveal a PEF

Affro's team gets miserably lost in the swamp

Some people look to Affro's team and think no one will go back home

Affro's team approaches the last shack.
No one from his team came back home (5 Sahadeens inside with a LMG).

However, in the next batrep I'll post you'll see Affro taking his revenge... against me.

Cheers
Andrea

Retake of my Sahadeens

Hi,

just a short post to show a very small change I made to my Sahadeens while waiting for the Rebel Minis order my friends made for my birthday :)
I personally love Sahadeen's look and I like the idea of painting black the inside of their hood, "Nazgul style".
While looking at how I painted them, I thought they were missing something...
So I added a red scarf.
That's all.

I told it was a very small thing... ^_^'
Cheers,
Andrea

Ruined Water Purification Implant

Dear all,

This week end I had some time and I finished my "ruined water purification implant" to be implemented in my ruined city project for 15mm minis!
This would be part of the terrain used for my incoming 5150: Star Army games as I buyed this game today from THW! Talking about the game, will hopefully soon review it.

Here are some some pics:
Di seguito alcune immagini:

Un'altra sezione in rovina dell'impianto

This is the full Water Implant. At the moment it is supposed to be a Sahadeen Rebels stronghold!

Andrea

Scratch made support for a FUBAR battle!

Hi!

I'm currently planning a couple of games: the first is a skirmish "adventure" using 2HW rules (Chain Reaction or Nuts) and the other one is a big battle runned by FUBAR.
For this second game I'm putting together some nasty things...
I think to Rebel Minis Sahadeens as wasteland nomad rebels fighting a war againts a well organized force, so I created from scratches this HUGE Tank/APC as a fearsome and rusty transport/attack vehicle.

I'd like to create for them some garbage made vehicles... and robots! These are old minis from Epic 40k:
Vorrei creare per i miei Sahadeen dei veicoli fatti di rottami e dei robot! Queste sono vecchie miniature di Epic 40k:

Below you can see my Sahadeens taking advantage from the cover of their (HUGE!!!) megatank and killerbots...
Ecco i miei Sahadeens (in Italiano sarà "Saladini"?

...as well as Snipers scouting the wastes to advise for troubles in sight!

BatRep: Battle at Affro's

Hello,

I finally have had the opportunity to play the game I was planning!

Military patrol vs Insurgent PEFs, Sci Fi setting, Chain Reaction 3 rules: let me say that I've never found rules as good as these.

The mission: patrolling an abandoned area where Sahadeen scouts have been detected.

First of all: the table. Me and my friend Affro set up something that was between "Passable" and "OMG, that's horrible", with some well made pieces of scenary together with some crap:

As it was our first game we made some mistakes here and there, but everything has been quite smooth.

After determining the PEFs, our Recons (we played cooperatively) started patrolling the area close to the boat. A scout detached from our group found a Sahadeen presence (not a formerly determined PEF) in the Church area:

Then we kept on patrolling the other sections where we found a "false alarm" and then a "real" menace:

Then a lot of things happened! My Rocket Launcher trooper had a bad reaction to his Leader getting stunned and went away looking for cover... and became useless for the rest of the game as I sent noone to rally him (!), and we found the third PEF in the abandoned facility area, close to the Artillery Cannon:

But, despite all the resistance... at the end we won!

After this first battle I think I will have soon more... 15mm minis and THW rules are just the Holy Graal of miniature wargaming!!!!

Cheers,

Andrea

Sahadeen army: ready for tonight game!

Hi,

I finally succeded in painting all my Sahadeen insurgents from Rebel Minis!
The paint job is quite simple, still I think that's enough for 15mm minis.

I'm going to try out tonight Chain Reaction 3 introductive scenario with Affro (have a look on his nice blog here ).

We well play as a couple of squads of hard boiled Light Recon bada$$ (from CMG) patrolling an area where Sahadeens are supposed to have left some forces.
As you can see I painted the bases with different colors as suggested in THW yahoo group so it will be very easy to recognize every guy's Reputation (the main stat in Chain Reaction system).
Red=Rep 5, Black=Rep 4, Green=Rep 3, Yellow=Rep 2.

I will post soon the battle report,
Stay tuned!

Cheers,
Andrea

Maybe one day I will finally be able to PLAY!!!!

Hello,

I'm going a bit slowly with painting but I'd like to show you some wip.
Below are my Sahadeens, both soldiers and special weapons.
As soon as possible I will complete the force to use it as insurgents for Chain Reaction 3 "Patrol" scenary at the end of the book (you can find all the infos and download the rules for free here: http://www.angelfire.com/az3/twohourwargames/index.html ).
A very nice thing of this scenary -and of THW in general- is that you can play in cooperation with a friend and let "the game" handle the Possible Enemy Forces.

Then, as the background I'm planning involves marsh and savage environments, I was thinking to add some random threats... like bugs or some strange monsters.
Well... after years of collecting all kind of crap I have a lot of stuff that can be useful :)!
Some rubber spiders and old minis from Mage Knight would perfectly work:

And if you have any question about the size...

Hope to be able to post soon a batrep!!!!

Cheers,
Andrea

First of my Sahadeen!

Hello,

I'm working on tons of Sahadeen warriors...
I post a picture of the first tryout: while it is far from being perfect (need some more work) I think this level of detail could be ok for "common" troopers on the table.
About the face under the hood, I'm thinking to cover it in black (just leaving the metal breath mask) and leave it with a "nazgul" feel!

Ps: as for all my 15mm, the base is the most inexpansive: an Euro cent!!!
I will soon post the entire platoon!

Cheers,
Andrea

Rebel Minis Sahadeen and Zed Hunters

Hello,

Finally I find the time to post some more. Today I'd like to show you the minis I received from Rebel Minis (http://www.rebelminis.com/).
I would like to spend some words about them (kind of a short review! :)

First, let me apologize for the grotesque quality of the pictures... my camera does not have such a zoom... When they'll be painted I will ask my -very- patient girlfriend to take some good pics with her kick-a$$ camera and her good talent.

Anyhow, below are the basic Sahadeen warriors, in comparison with an Arc Fleet Light Recon from Critical Mass Games.
The quality of all the minis I received is STUNNING. My bad pics cannot give a pale idea of how nice the models are.
All are dressed with coats, eye/mouth protections, hoods and carry a nice "realistic" rifle with sight. There are 21 minis in 4 poses plus a commander.
And... they fit PERFECTLY the scale of my ARC Fleet Light Recon!!!!! See the picture below!!
They are fantastic together: the impression of having some proud insurgents dressed with a sort of uniform made of clothes only near a light armored soldier is perfectly simulated.
i.e.: their heads are slightly smaller than the AFLR's helmeted head and that's great in my opinion!
They are perfect for the game I was planning to play.

These guys below are from the Sahadeen Gun Team (6 minis). the models are a sniper (that comes with a spotter), a missile launcher guy and a SAW carrier.
All the models are really cool and well done -my favourite is the SAW gunner!- and as above, they perfectly fits their sahadeen friends and the CMG Light Recon troopers.

At last... they're not really sci-fi but I was very curious about these minis.... the zombie hunters!
Five characters with very fine details. From the left: an agile gunslinger girl, a "Lara Croft" style woman -the comparison comes out more for the big breast than for the two UZIs!- a rapper with a shotgun, a mercenary/soldier girl with an MP5, and a fat bald guy with mustaches and a gun (it will be my friend Affro's favourite!).
As for the Sahadeen, they looks just great with AFLR.
These minis can be just perfect in case of need for special characters.
Rebel Minis guys have been so kind to include for free a sample of their Earth Force Marines. The model is the last on the right, and looks very good... maybe my next purchase? Maybe... togheter with tons of their Zombies!! I know they work in partnership with Two Hour Wargames that produce the famous ATZ game... nothing less than good things can come from this relationship!!

Hope to be able to post soon better pictures with painted minis!

Cheers,
Andrea

My brand new "insurgents" are at my home!!!! Unfortunately I'm not.

YESSSS!

My -patient- girlfriend told me (with Skype because I'm on b-travelling) that I received today my Sahadeen warriors from Rebel Minis (http://www.rebelminis.com/sahadeenarmy.html )!
I look forward to see them... I will soon post pictures,

Cheers,
Andrea
